UCHIGO and SHIZIMI Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of Haruko Nagata who is an artist from Shizuoka, from November 5th fri to December 18th sat, 2021. She hopes to audiences that they would feel the vitality of the flowers, transitory lives, and invisible breaths. In this exhibition, we feature her flower works which are fused with our space. As a side note, the title “A Flower” is her thoughts put into《Keeping a close eye on the beginning of blooming to withering》, so it doesn’t mean just《One flower》.
This is Haruko's first solo exhibition in three years. We are sincerely looking forward to welcoming you to the venue.
I painted these works while hearing the voice of flowers, they whispered “please paint me” , and synchronizing my breath with them. I hope you can feel their natural breaths in this space filled with flowers.
(Her message for the exhibition)
ARTIST STATEMENT
Flowers bloom petals from small buds, pass the best time to see, and decay silently. There are new discoveries in that transition day by day, and I’ve never stopped my desires to express them even after withering. When I paint my works with the feeling of breathing with flowers, I express smell, sound, temperature, colour, presence or so, while accepting these things with my five senses. And the works sometimes naturally tend to not define any specific shape.
